This option prevents long sentences from being displayed. If you are just starting out in your Japanese studies then it is recommended that you keep this option turned on.
Changes the order in which the sentences appear: either Japanese to English or English to Japanese.
Furigana is a type of reading aid for Japanese text that is displayed over each kanji as small hiragana/katakana characters. This feature is available for individual (green) levels only.
When turned on, grouped (orange) levels are arranged into sets of 5. When turned off, they are arranged into 10's.
This option translates all of the text in the user interface to Japanese. This is useful if you are trying to avoid English for the purpose of creating a
total immersion environment for yourself.
Reduces the occurrence of sentences containing overly common kanji (which gives the results more variety).
Sentences will contain kanji from levels prior to (and including) the level that is currently selected.
Hides furigana until the translation is revealed. Furigana will need to be enabled (see above) for this to be active.
Turns on all features for custom sentence lists. To begin to use these features, firstly click on Manage Lists and then create an account.
Lists are your own
custom groups of sentences. In the List Manager
you can:
Create a list Click the plus button on the left column
Create a sentence Click the plus button on the center column
Edit a sentence Select a sentence in the center and then edit in the right column
You can also re-organise your lists by dragging a sentence (click & hold) from the center column onto a list in the left column.
The list column is separated into three areas:
Most Popular / Recently Added. These public categories contain sentences that have been added by other users, and cannot be edited. The selector at the bottom
switches between
core sentences (copied from the Duendecat library), and
user-made sentences that have been created by other users.
The second area is for your own lists. New sentences are added to the
Unassigned list by default.
The Blacklist. Anything that is put in here will be blocked from appearing on the main screen.
As well as creating lists in the List Manager, you can also copy sentences that you see on the
main screen to the List Manager by moving the mouse over a sentence and then clicking the plus
icon.
You can also blacklist a sentence
so that it will never appear again, or report a sentence
if you spot a translation error.
